back in the springs

It has been way too long since I updated this thing! I do have a good excuse though, I swear. I just got back in town Monday night from Cleveland where I spent a long weekend. Yes, computers do exist in Cleveland but I was busy! I was thinking and I concluded that this is probably the longest I have ever gone without being home. It had been just a little over 3 months which may seem pathetic to some but whatever- that’s what happens when you go to undergrad only 2 hours away from your hometown.

The weekend was fairly low-key. We thought filling it with a ton of activities would make it go by too fast but it still went by pretty darn fast! I did get to eat some of my favorite baked goods such as a peanut butter cookie from Blackbird Baking Company and berry peachy pie from Gray House Pies. The woman at the pie place told us how someone in Colorado paid $120 to have a rhubarb pie shipped to them- I am not that crazy yet, thankfully! My mom and I went to the Westside Market where we bought a ton of stuff including pumpkin bread and homemade salsa and hummus. I probably gained like 5 pounds in one weekend. More important than the amazing amount of food I consumed was everyone I got to see while in town. I got to go to breakfast with K’s mom, celebrate a niece’s birthday and go to dinner with my parents and two of my sisters. I have undergone such drastic life changes within the past two years that it seemed weird but good to be back in Lakewood.

Monday night I arrived home after a long day of traveling (I sat in the plane next to a man from Sweden who tried to order 3 alcoholic drinks at once so that was interesting) to a wriggling and excited Levi. I subbed yesterday in a 3rd grade classroom which went pretty well. Definitely a lot better than the 1st grade class I subbed in before I left which was a headache-inducing nightmare. Most of these kids were very sweet- a few even created some artwork for me:

Two little girls also gave me hugs, it was so cute. I don’t have any more jobs for this week yet but K and I are already looking forward to the weekend because we have some fun things planned!

On a different note, K and I recently started watching Mad Men. We kept hearing about it so much we wanted to find out what the heck everyone was talking about. After the first episode we both were kind of like “eh” but I’m glad we stuck with it. Tonight we are watching the Season 2 finale and I can’t wait to see what happens. We both are pretty into it now. I especially love the way they talk- in this one episode this guy says “Well, that was a gas.” I thought it was so funny that I adopted the phrase and like saying it to K.

About littletulip

I recently moved from Ohio to Colorado to be with my new husband and we are extremely excited to finally start our life together. We wanted to create this blog as a way to let our family and friends back home see what is going on with us since we don't always talk to everyone on the phone all the time.
